ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers down the Aberdeen Roncalli Lady Cavaliers 46-44 Tuesday at Aberdeen Roncalli high school. In their second game of the season the Lady Tigers gave up a late lead but kicked their offense up another level to set up the game winning shot at the buzzer to advance to 2-0 on their young season.
Mobridge-Pollock had many impressive performers in the win, Blake Thompson with another high powered offensive performance, Tegan Konold, Jacy Netterville, and Brooke Bain all played strong throughout the game especially in the second half on defense, but at the end of the day it was Faith Heil topping her strong day off with the buzzer beater layup to secure the win for the Lady Tigers. Faith was already a strong option to be our Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game but this ending secured it as the Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers got a huge early season win against a good Aberdeen Roncalli squad.
The first half of this game started out very close between both squads trading buckets and feeling each other out with the fast pace of play leading to a lot of shots for both teams. Mobridge-Pollock took some momentum into the locker room at half time taking the lead 25-24 just before time expired in the second quarter. Coming out of halftime we saw the defensive adjustments for both teams, with Mobridge-Pollock beginning to build a lead. Moving into the fourth quarter the Lady Tigers led by as much as 10 points but could not turn this game into a blowout allowing the Lady Cavaliers to come back into the game. A late three from Claire Crawford tied things up at 44 with just under 10 second to play in the game but the Lady Tigers turned on the gas and found Faith Heil down low to ice the game.
In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will take on Timber Lake in their home opener Friday, December 19 for their third game of the season starting around 6:30 p.m.
