Government transparency in the area of open meeting laws is a topic being addressed by three of South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley’s legislative proposals this (2026) lawmaking session.
Jackley says he’s had an advisory task force looking into the state’s open meetings laws.
Jackley says the Advisory Task Force Committee on Open Meetings Laws wants to clarify details surrounding executive sessions.
Jackley says another government transparency issue his proposed bills cover is a how far in advance a meeting agenda must be made public and where that agenda must be posted at.
Senate Bills 46, 47 and 48 have all been assigned to the Senate State Affairs Committee.
