A review of the 2025 annual financial report shows the City of Pierre collected about what was expected in revenue from the city sales tax.
City Finance Officer Lacey Walz says they use a conservative estimate each year because sales tax revenue can be a challenging number to predict.
Walz says Pierre uses its sales tax dollars to pay for a variety of expenses.
Overall, Walz says 2025 revenues and expenses were close to what was budgeted.
