Temporary closure of one block of Highland Avenue in Pierre begins today

The City of Pierre will temporarily close one block of Highland Avenue for street reconstruction work starting today (May 14, 2026) , weather permitting.

The closure on Highland from Sioux Avenue to East Dakota Avenue is expected to last up to three weeks. The work will include full street reconstruction to improve long-term durability and drivability.

Sioux Avenue and East Dakota Avenue will remain open.
