A 19 year old woman from Pierre faces criminal charges after a traffic stop early Monday morning (May 25, 2026).
According to the Pierre Police Department, at approximately 2:26 a.m., a patrol officer observed a westbound vehicle turn from Garfield Avenue onto Wells Avenue and it appeared to be traveling above the posted speed limit of 35 mph. Using radar, the officer confirmed the vehicle was traveling 56 mph and a traffic stop was conducted.
The officer detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver, who was identified as Olivia Young. As a result of a DUI investigation, Young was arrested for driving under revocation, driving under the influence (DUI), underage consumption of alcohol, and speeding.
Young was transported to the Hughes County Jail.
