One of the many bright spots of the Pierre Governors softball team and season has been their senior ace, McKenzi Flottmeyer. When the Govs needed a strong outing inside the circle, they would turn to Flottmeyer. More times than not, she would deliver for her team.
Flottmeyer’s continued consistency was so good throughout the season, she has earned a spot on the Eastern South Dakota All-Conference Softball team. Flottmeyer was the only Governor to make this year’s list, emphasizing just how strict the cut was after multiple Governors had breakout seasons for Pierre.
On the season, Flottmeyer started 10 games and registered 59.1 innings pitched meaning she averaged almost a complete game each time she stepped across the chalk. Overall, she hurled 1,182 pitches this year, going 4-4 int he W/L column. Even more impressive she struck out 66 batters while only walking 22. Her two best outings came against Watertown when she struck out 12 batters without allowing a single walk, and against Tea Area where she struck out 11 while walking three.
In the batters box, Flottmeyer was good at helping herself out too. She finished the season with a .312 batting average while driving in four.
Flottmeyer and the Governors will go on the road and take on Harrisburg tonight in SoDak 16 play. The two teams met earlier this season when the Tigers got the better of the Govs winning 15-0, first pitch at 6:00 PM.
Across the rest of the conference, Harrisburg had the most amount of players make the team with five while Brandon Valley (who had a sixth listed as honorable mention) and Brookings saw four announced. Below, you will find the full list of players to make all-conference.
