Recent Philip graduate Carson Burns was recently selected as one of only seven student-athletes in North and South Dakota to receive the Positive Athlete Dakotas Award. Positive Athlete is a national organization that recognizes high school student-athletes who exemplify character, leadership, service, positivity, and putting others before themselves.
According to Positive Athlete, more than 15,000 student-athletes from over 6,000 schools were nominated, with only a small percentage ultimately recognized as award winners. Carson was selected as one of the seven Dakotas recipients based on the qualities that Positive Athlete values most: being optimistic, encouraging, respectful, service-minded, team-oriented, and having a genuine heart for others.
This fall, Carson will attend Lake Area Technical College, where he plans to continue pursuing his goals and building on the values that earned him this recognition. View the full press release below:
