Sheep producers from the region are encouraged to take part in the Newell Ram Show & Sale planned for Sept. 17-18, 2026, in Newell, South Dakota.
The two-day event includes a competitive sheep show, wool contest and live auction of some of the region’s top sheep genetics. Routinely consignments from an eight-state region make up the offering which has included Rambouillet, Targhee, SAMM, Columbia, Corriedale, Suffolk, Hampshire, and Dorset.
If you are a longtime sheep producer or just starting out in the industry, the Newell Ram Show & Sale is a great opportunity to showcase your operation. Entries are to be postmarked by June 20. The entry form along with the ability to submit online can be done through newellramsale.com.
The sheep show will kick off on Sept. 17 with the ewes at 9 a.m. followed by the rams. The wool show will begin at 10 a.m. and cash prizes will be offered to the winning fleeces. Sheep growers are encouraged to bring their fleeces for the wool show.
An evening awards banquet will be held to recognize that day’s show winners and longtime consignors of the event.
The sale will be held live on Sept. 18 at the Newell Ram Sale Barn at the Newell rodeo grounds. DV Auction will also be broadcasting it online. Ewes will sell first, followed by stud rams and range rams.
