Pierre’s Kaden Cumbow makes ESPN with incredible comeback in Special Olympics USA Games

Before getting to the weekly newsletter, one of the biggest accomplishments out of Pierre’s Special Olympics program came from Kaden Cumbow who achieved a feat so impressive it made it on ESPN. Cumbow competed in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games as a representative of Team South Dakota which was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Cumbow took home the bronze medal in the 100m dash, however, that was not the highlight.

The move that caught everyone’s attention came in the final leg of the 4x100m relay where Cumbow showed off his innate speed to overcome a huge gap to win the gold medal. ESPN posted the incredible comeback on their social media platforms which you can view below. Congratulations to Cumbow who made all of Pierre and South Dakota proud with this unbelievable effort!

The heroes have returned! We are excited to bring back the Sioux Falls Heroes Pull. Teams of up to 10 people will compete to see who can pull a Minnehaha County SWAT Bearcat and a Sioux Falls Fire Truck the fastest.
