A 56 year old man from Kennebec, South Dakota, died Friday (July 17, 2026) in a single-vehicle crash three miles south of Lake Andes in Charles Mix County.
The name of the person involved has not yet been released.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the driver of a 2000 Freightliner Conventional FLD120 was traveling southbound on US 18 when his brakes locked up. The truck swerved into the ditch and rolled. The driver sustained fatal injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
