A 56 year old man from Kennebec, South Dakota, died Friday (July 17, 2026) in a single-vehicle crash three miles south of Lake Andes in Charles Mix County.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates Robert Nicholas Fischer Jr., was driving a 2000 Freightliner semi southbound on US Highway 18 when his brakes locked up. The semi swerved into the ditch and rolled. Fischer sustained fatal injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
