A Brookings woman died Monday (Aug. 10, 2026) in a two-vehicle crash near Sisseton, South Dakota.
Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates a 52 year old male from Tower, ND, was driving a 2024 GMC Sierra northbound on I-29 while pulling a 48-foot header trailer. At the same time, the 34 year old female driver of a 2022 Honda Ridgeline was also traveling northbound. The Sierra switched into the passing lane and the Honda collided with the GMC’s trailer. The driver of the Honda sustained fatal injuries.
I-29 was closed for approximately four and a half hours.
The investigation is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.
