The Verendrye Museum‘s annual Backyard BBQ Competition fundraiser starts this evening (Aug. 7, 2026) at Fischers Lilly Park in Fort Pierre.

Darby Nutter with the Museum Board says there’s a team calcutta tonight at 6pm CT.

Nutter says there’s a breakfast at 6am Saturday.

Nutter says attendees are able to purchase tickets to eat some brisket.
