(Redfield, SD) — Officials say a field fire on Saturday was started by a small lithium ion battery. The Redfield Rural Fire Department responded to the fire and quickly put it out. Crews were able to locate small lithium ion batteries and yellow plastic pieces where the fire started and determined the items were part of a target thrower. In a post on social media, the Redfield Fire Department is reminding people to be safe with batteries during harvest and hunting season.
