PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – Nick Gordon went 3-for-3 and drove in five runs Saturday to lead the Minnesota Twins to a 9-4 spring training win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Charlotte Sports Park.
Gordon hit a three-run homer, his first of the spring, in the fourth inning, then smacked a two-run triple in a four-run sixth for the Twins (7-9).
Devin Smelter earned his second win of the spring with four scoreless innings, allowing two hits, striking out three and walking two.
Minnesota will meet Boston Sunday at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers.
