Entries in the Fort Pierre 4th of July parade will be allowed to throw candy during this year’s parade.
Because of social distancing recommendations in place due to COVID-19, it was proposed to not give away candy to try to stop people from crowding together to get the treats.
Mayor Gloria Hanson says organizers are asking parade attendees to space themselves out as much as they can.
She says Don Sandal has been named honorary grand marshal of this year’s parade.
