OCTOBER 10, 2022:
The Pierre TF Riggs High School Emerald Regiment marching band earned a handful of awards during competitions held over the weekend.
Director Mackenzie McKeithan-Jensen says the group 807 out of 1,000 points at the Lake Area Marching Band Festival Friday (Oct. 7, 2022) in Groton. Recognitions were:
- Band of Merit (2nd Place) in High School Class
- Overall Best Colorguard
- Overall 4th Place

The group also competed in the March to the Meridian event on Saturday (Oct. 8, 2022) in Yankton, scoring 650 out of 700 possible points. Awards received there were:
- 1st Place in Class C
- Overall Best Winds
- Grand Champions of Parade (Highest Score)

OCTOBER 1, 2022:
The Pierre TF Riggs High School Emerald Regiment marching band earned 5th place at the Roncalli Marching Band Festival this week (Sept. 28, 2022) in Aberdeen.
Director Mackenzie McKeithan-Jensen says the group scored 900 out of 1,000 points, increasing their score from their previous competition.
Ten marching bands competed. The top four places were:
- Aberdeen Roncalli
- Castlewood
- Ipswich
- Langford
