Kermit Moses Sargeant peacefully passed away on December 25, 2022 at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. He was 75.
Kermit was born i Fort Thompson, SD to Evelyn Pansy (McBride) Dunsmore and Andrew Ivan Sargeant on December 17, 1947. He grew up in the Stephan, Crow Creek, Bad Nation, and Fort Thompson areas. Later in his life, he moved to Sioux Falls, SD.
He worked for non-profit organizations in Sioux Falls fixing bikes and helping where he could. Kermit enjoyed playing sudoku and card games, drawing, and watching the Denver Broncos play football. He was an outdoor enthusiast who liked to walk or ride his bike on the trails. Kermit was the type of person who woke up before sunrise to have a cup of coffee. He was eager to lend a hand wherever he was able.
While Kermit never married, he lived an independent and vibrant life with more friends and family than one can count. He was an uncle and grandpa to everyone. Every struggle and disadvantage Kermit faced throughout his life shaped him into the person we love. Presence was important to him than having something to say. Those that share memories with him will remember his presence. We will miss him dearly, but have faith that he’s still present with us.
Kermit was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and Andrew; his grandparents Moses and Bessie McBride, Steven and Lucy Sargeant; his brothers, Ivan and Merle Sargeant; and many other relatives.
He is survived by his brothers, Theodore Sargeant, Robert Dunsmore; his only sister April Pohawpatchoko; his nephew and nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
We offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who provided emotional and practical support for us at this difficult time. We are truly grateful for the condolences and prayers.
