Cabot Street in Pierre between Governors Drive and Washington Avenue will close to through traffic today (June 5, 2023) for street construction. As part of that project, one half of a block of Governors Drive between Cabot Street and Broadway Avenue will also close to through traffic today.
Intermittent residential access will be maintained throughout the construction project. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
The city maintains 80 miles of street, more than 100 miles of water main, and more than 60 miles of sanitary sewer. Each year, city staff assess the streets, in addition to utilities, sidewalks and curbs to prioritize street maintenance and reconstruction projects.
