The Pierre-Fort Pierre Kiwanis Club has awarded 12 college scholarships totaling $8,000 to graduating seniors from the Pierre TF Riggs and Stanley County High Schools.
Madison Oedekoven of Pierre won the $1,000 Mel Wall Memorial Scholarship.
Receiving $1,000 Don London Memorial/Perkins Scholarships were Ashton Griese from Pierre and Alejandra Juarez from Stanley County.
Sarah Mohr of Pierre won the $1,000 Colleen Weiss Memorial Scholarship.
Receiving $500 Kiwanis University Scholarships, all from Pierre, were Autumn Iverson, Jacob Mayer, Remington Price, Kendra Rounds, Marlee Shorter and GiannaMaria Stangeland.
Alexandria Childs of Pierre received the $500 Kiwanis Vocational Scholarship, and Hudson Allen of Pierre won the $500 Jim Valnes Memorial Community Volunteer Scholarship.
To help raise funds for future scholarships, the Pierre-Fort Pierre Kiwanis Club is hosting a concert by Rowan Grace Sept. 15, 2023, in the Pierre TF Riggs High School Theater. Opening act is Katie Dwyer. Tickets cost $20 and can be purchased using the information on the poster below.
The Pierre-Fort Pierre Kiwanis Club meets the first and third Mondays of each month at noon at Perkins Restaurant in Fort Pierre. In addition to scholarships, Kiwanis raises funds for other worthwhile community activities, with an emphasis on youth. Call 605-280-4165 for more information.
