JUNE 26, 2023:
Fort Pierre will hold its annual Independence Day parade on July 4, 2023, but because of construction on the Missouri River bridge, they’re doing something a little different this year.
Mayor Gloria Hanson says there’s a lot of coordinating happening to accommodate a large crowd.
Hanson says a variety of places in Fort Pierre will be open, with some hosting fundraisers and others extending their hours to encourage folks to “come early, stay late.”
After the parade, Hanson says there’s going to be a special military flyover.
People on horseback are needed to help carry the 50 state flags. To do so, contact Darby Nutter (605-319-6071).
This year’s Parade Marshal is Dave Dahl. The parade entry form is available on the Fort Pierre city website.
The annual Fort Pierre 4th of July Rodeo will be held at the Stanley County Fairgrounds July 3 and 4. Performances start at 7 o’clock CT each night. Following the rodeo on the 4th, will be the annual Fort Pierre fireworks display.
