A 51 year old man from Pierre faces various marijuana charges after police were called to Griffin Park in Pierre yesterday afternoon (Aug. 3, 2023, 2:45pm).
Information from the Pierre Police Department says officers were dispatched to Griffin Park at around 2:45pm after the Central South Dakota Communications dispatch center received a 911 alert via text. The report said an adult male was attempting to give teenagers marijuana and the juveniles appeared uncomfortable.
Upon arrival, investigating officers discovered three juveniles, ranging in age from 9-13. They said they didn’t know the male who had approached them but he was attempting to have them smoke from a pipe he was holding in their faces.
Robert Grandon was found to be in possession of marijuana and multiple items of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested for Distributing Marijuana, Any Amount, to a Minor (SDCL 22-42-7) and three counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (SDCL 29-9-1). Grandon was transported and lodged at the Hughes County Jail.
AMR ambulance service personnel assessed the juveniles, who were ultimately released to a parent.
