DUPREE – Stanley County’s offense was sharp for the third straight week, but this time, the defense was dominant.
The Buffaloes held down Dupree’s double-wing running game and used a big third quarter on offense to shut out Dupree 40-0 Friday.
Broch Zeeb passed for two touchdowns to Barrett Schweitzer and rushed for another score. Schweitzer rushed for SC’s other two touchdowns.
Stanley County’s defense had six tackles for losses, two sacks and held the Tigers to one yard rushing in the first half.
Zeeb hit Schweitzer for a 65-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and an 11-yard score with just under two minutes left in the first half to bring the Buffaloes (3-0) a 16-0 halftime lead.
Dupree’s possession to open the second half took the first 5:59 of the third quarter, but ended when Schweitzer tackled Bobby Brewer for a loss on fourth down. Schweitzer then had a 32-yard run two plays before his first rushing touchdown from four yards.
After a Paxton Deal interception, Zeeb found Blaize Frost for a 32-yard reception before Schweitzer ran in again from five yards.
Zeeb had an interception, then had the game’s final touchdown on a 15-yard run that was most fortunate. Zeeb wasn’t ready for a snap that went off his leg, but the ball bounced right up into Zeeb’s hands to complete a 24-points third quarter for Stanley County.
Schweitzer, playing at tailback for the second game in a row in place of the injured Colton Brady, rushed 18 times for 129 yards. Zeeb was 5-for-10 passing for 115 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
