PIERRE, S.D. – The Oahe Capitals boys varsity hockey team picked up an important league win on Friday (Feb. 9, 2024) in Ft. Pierre when the Capitals skated to a 7-3 victory over the Mitchell Marlins. After Mitchell opened up a 1-0 lead after the first period, Oahe exploded for 5 unanswered goals in the second period to take a 5-2 lead into the third. Barrett Schweitzer had a pair of goals in the second period onslaught and added a third goal in the third period to record the hat trick for the Capitals. 4 other Capitals added goals in the contest and Spencer Anderson stopped 21 shot in goal as Oahe out shot Mitchell 45-27 in the game. With the win, Oahe pulled to within one point of the Marlins for 4th place in the league standings with a 9-5-1 record. The Capitals travel to Aberdeen Sunday for a matchup against the Cougars.
