PIERRE – A banner season for Pierre Governor athletics saw two more senior student-athletes sign letters of intent Wednesday (May 15, 2024) to compete in their respective sports at the collegiate level.
An early morning signing saw Jaxon Ducheneaux officially committed to joining the wrestling team at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell. Ducheneaux completed his senior season with a 38-12 record, including 26 pins, culminating in a seventh place finish in the 157-pound weight class at the State Tournament, helping the Governors to a second place finish in the team standings.
Head coach Shawn Lewis says that at DWU, Ducheneaux will be able to fit in to their lineup at a more natural 174 or 184 pound class. The Tiger program has welcomed several other former Pierre wrestlers in the recent past including Tyler Sarringar, Dusty Paulsen, Aric Williams and Tyson Johnson.

Wednesday afternoon it was Austyn Langdeau’s turn to sign as he inked his commitment to play football for the North Dakota State College of Science, a junior college in Wahpeton.
Langdeau becomes the school record shattering ninth Governor gridder to sign a letter of intent from this past season’s team that won a state record-breaking seventh straight Class 11AA championship. Langdeau anchored an athletic defensive line for the Govs, and according to head coach Steve Steele, he will be able to immediately fill a need for NDSCS at the nose tackle position.
