The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association is holding a Region Roundup meeting this evening (July 17, 2024) in Mitchell.
Southeast Region Director Colby Olson says Dr. Beth Thompson, State Veterinarian and Executive Secretary of the Animal Industry Board, is one of the speakers.
Olson says speakers will also cover marketing and risk management.
The Mitchell Region Roundup begins with a social starting at 5:30pm at Blarney’s Sports Bar and Grill. The event is open to both the general public and SD Cattlemen’s Association members. The SDCA encourages those interested to RSVP to the event, however, it is not required. To RSVP visit sdcattlemen.org, click on the events tab, and select the event location you want to attend.

Dr. Thompson will discuss the implementation of the United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service’s final rule regarding electronic identification (EID) for disease traceability. This open forum will address questions and provide insights as producers prepare to comply with the updated rule.
