In the midst of the State Wrestling duals that took place Thursday through this evening, Timber Hanson did something that has never been done before on the mat for Stanley County. In the 5th Place Match, Hanson won by major decision over Ella Coomes (Madison) 29-10 (MD 16-6).
Hanson was defeated by Coomes in the first round on Thursday, but showed great resilience today to get the win sending a message to younger wrestlers in Fort Pierre that there is success to be had. Not only did she inspire a younger corps of wrestlers, she also made a little history while she was at it. With this win, Hanson becomes the first State place winner in Stanley County history, making all of Fort Pierre proud. Personally, for Hanson, this win means a lot, but she also is now paving the way for girls wrestling at Stanley County for years to come.
