In the third game of the day from The Monument in Rapid City, the Govs had hopes of upsetting a Brandon Valley team that had beat them by double-digits earlier in the season. Both teams came out with intensity, but the Lynx got their outside shot going early and never took their foot off the gas.
The Lynx, led by leading scorer Gracie Salter (17), shot an astounding 43% from outside the arc as they were slowly able to build a lead throughout the contest. Pierre trailed midway thru the second quarter by a deficit of 18, but as they have done all season fought back and brought it within double-digits. But a late Lynx three to end the half stunned the Governor momentum.
The great shooting night for the Lynx continued in the second half as Brandon Valley would run away with it, winning 69-36 and advancing to the late game tomorrow. The Govs were led by Emery Larson, who, even under immense pressure, was able to knock down 4-threes and finish with 12. The Govs will face off with Mitchell in the consolation game tomorrow afternoon at 2:45 CT. Tune in for the pregame show on River 92.7 and streaming on www.DRGnews.com
