June 23, 2025:
The Pierre/Fort Pierre Area Community Foundation and Youth Philanthropy Fund have recently distributed nearly $17,500 in grants to 16 community organizations.
Since being created in 1997, the two endowed funds have granted over $675,000 to nonprofit organizations in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area. The funds are permanent endowments held with SDCF and recommendations for distribution are made by local advisory councils.
Foundation President Kate Olson says the two accounts create a sustainable funding source for local charitable causes. She encourages residents to consider the local foundation when making charitable gifts.

Non-profit organizations in Pierre and Fort Pierre have until Wednesday, April 30, 2025, to apply for grant dollars from the Pierre/Fort Pierre Community Foundation and the Youth Philanthropy Fund.
The Pierre/Fort Pierre Community Foundation will consider both youth and adult activities/programs, while the Youth Philanthropy Fund is restricted to youth activities/programs. They use the same application form to apply.
