A little rain and cold wouldn’t stop hundreds from gathering down at Steamboat park as the anglers came off the water to wrap up day one of the NWT’s first tournament of the season. Ninety-three boats in teams of two exited the Missouri River with their haul for the day and made their way to the weigh-station to boast their catches in front of the crowd.

The leaders after day one was Robert Crow and his team who brought in a whopping 21 lbs. 2 oz., clearing the second place holder by nearly 8 pounds. Pierre native, Duane Hjelm and his partner for the day Tom Levos came in seventh on the day one leaderboard, bringing in 9 lbs. 11 oz. Pierre anglers showed off their knowledge of the river with Tyson Keller sitting sixth on the leaderboard with 10 lbs. 10 oz, and Chris Haines in 12th with 8 lbs. 15 oz.

Other anglers from Pierre also brought in a few fish, Ryan Thompson, in 20th, brought in 8-09, in 31st, Drew Schutz weighed in at 7-14, Harry and Dalton Decker sit 76th and 88th, and Justin Sieverding sits 93rd. To see the full leaderboard, click here
Day two will get underway tomorrow at Downs Marina beginning at 7:00 AM when the tournament resumes.
