June 18, 2025:
Fort Pierre and the Stanley County Fairgrounds are hosting the 76th annual South Dakota High School Finals Rodeo this week (June 17-21, 2025), with performances continuing through Saturday.
After serving as the secretary for the High School Finals for 20 years, Ann Sunderman says she’s passing the torch.
Amy Johnson is taking over the secretary’s duties and says she’s excited to continue being involved with high school rodeo.
Along with the typical rodeo events, Sunderman says there are other activities for the rodeo contestants to compete in as well.
Public Relations Coordinator Marty Phillips says the South Dakota High School Rodeo regional and state events all take place within about two weeks.
Winners will receive awards ranging from belt buckles to saddles. They’ll also get a spot on South Dakota’s team at the National High School Finals Rodeo next month (July 13-19, 2025) in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
People can purchase admission passes for individual performances or for the entire event.
The South Dakota High School Finals Rodeo will be held at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre through 2027.

Fort Pierre and the Stanley County Fairgrounds are hosting the largest state high school finals rodeo in the country this week (June 17-21, 2025).
Performances for the 76th annual South Dakota High School Finals Rodeo started Tuesday and continue through Saturday.
Sheppick started riding horses when she was young and plans to continue riding and rodeoing in college.
Winners will receive awards ranging from belt buckles to saddles. They’ll also get a spot on South Dakota’s team at the National High School Finals Rodeo next month (July 13–19, 2025) in Wyoming.
People can purchase admission passes for individual performances or for the entire event.
