BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers bested Belle Fourche 40-6 on Friday Night getting their second straight road win at Lou Graslie Field. The Tigers overcame three first half turnovers and scored 26 second half points to advance to 5-0 on the season.
Mobridge-Pollock’s defensive shut out streak ended at 11 quarters of play but the Tigers defense still looked elite tonight. Due to the turnovers the field position flipped around all night with one Belle Fourche drive starting deep in Mobridge-Pollock territory in the first half but the Tigers were excellent on third and fourth down not allowing the Broncs to take advantage. The big test coming into the game for Mobridge-Pollock was how would they be able to handle the size and conditioning of Belle Fourche and while they did make some mistakes with the turnovers, the offense was still humming just as good as you would expect for the Tigers.
After a quick defensive stop to start the game Mobridge-Pollock came out on offense and went right down the field capping off the drive with a Mack Saxon rushing touchdown, scoring on their first offensive drive for the fifth week in a row. Mack Saxon would find the endzone one more time in the first half but turnovers became the story of the first half for the Tigers with two fumbles and an interception stopping momentum for the Mobridge-Pollock offense.
Going into the second half up just 14-0 Mobridge-Pollock came out swinging with some good offense right off the bat and good contributions from some younger players on this team. Trueth Crow Ghost had the most explosive second half performance on the team, breaking free for a 62 yard rushing touchdown, before coming out on defense and intercepting Belle Fourche, making him this week’s Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game. Trayden Stambach, Kyson Good Shield, and Dylan Fjeldheim all contributed in the second half as well, helping to rally the offense in the win.
Mobridge-Pollock will travel to take on Lead-Deadwood next Friday, October 3 for their third of four straight road matchups, kickoff is at 6:00 p.m MST. or 7:00 p.m. CST.
