The Pierre Governors hosted the Huron Tigers for their final regular season home games at PILC, hoping to earn another win and set themselves up for the playoffs next week. Game one was the girls game in which they started with a furious offensive push seeing goals from Jasmine Jost, Devyn Van Roekel and Natalie Flottmeyer. The Govs scored a handful of goals in the first half playing confident soccer, and put the Tigers away in the second half reaching the 10-goal mercy rule and winning 10-0. Goals for the Governor Girls came from Flottmeyer (2), Van Roekel, Myah Fravel, Kinslee Pfeffer (2), Lexie Hilmer and Jasmine Jost who had a hat-trick along with an assist and earned Player of the Game honors.
In game two, fighting the setting sun, the boys needed a crucial win to stay put in the standings ahead of the postseason. A loss or a draw would not favor the Govs in terms of seeding points, so they went into the match knowing it was essentially a must-win. Lucas Hight got the boys on the board first with one of his most impressive goals of the season, knifing through the Tiger defense to find himself one-on-one with the Tigers GK Jaxon Andru. Hight would stripe one in on the lower corner to give his team a 1-0 lead. Even though the Tigers are winless on the season, Govs head coach Sean Blanchette said it was the toughest no-win team in the state. The Tigers played with high intensity and speed, making it difficult for the Govs offense to get going. However, past the midway point of the second half Hekmat Ghaznavi played a header from Alex Oedekoven perfectly to score the games second goal, providing some much needed insurance and securing the 2-0 victory for Pierre.
