Sully Buttes picked up a nice road win Tuesday night, continuing to build on their strong 2026-26 campaign. The Chargers close out the regular season with a tough stretch of games in which four of their last five opponents are over .500, including the Wolverines. So, the Chargers know wins are at a premium.
Sully Buttes came off the bus ready to play jumping out to a double-digit, 20-8 lead. However, they would have their hands full with Herreid/Selby Area who was able to storm back in the second and third quarter to make it close. The Chargers didn’t have their patented outside shooting night as they only saw three made threes from their entire offense, so they would have to go to the post to find success.
The Wolverines cut the deficit to three, trailing 40-37 going into the final quarter, but would not be able to complete the comeback thanks to a near mirror of the first quarter from Sully Buttes. The Chargers outscored HSA 21-8 to close the game and would go onto win 61-45.
The Chargers were led by both Easton Moore who scored 24 and Wesley Wittler who scored 25. The two also combined for all three of the three pointers made by their team. Xavier Ritter led Herreid/Selby Area in scoring with 12 while Noah Schuetzle went 3/3 from outside the arc.
The Chargers improved to 12-4 on the season while the Wolverines fell back to an even 8-8. Both teams will participate in the Warner Classic this weekend, Herreid/Selby Area with another tough test against 10-5 against Warner. Sully Buttes will face off with a gritty Mobridge-Pollock team on Thursday before they play Aberdeen Roncalli in the classic.
