After starting 2-4, the Pierre Governors have ripped off eight consecutive wins after defeating Brookins in a Sunday doubleheader.
In game one, Pierre pieced together a comfortable 4-0 lead thanks to some good base running, small ball and timely hitting from Jerren Deal and Hudson Stoeser. The Govs would allow one run, but had the game firmly in hand going on to win 4-1 before a thrilling second game.
In game two of the doubleheader, Bridger Babcock would plate the most important run of the game in the fourth inning with a two-out single that made it 2-0 before the Govs would again hold on to win 2-1. While big hits were necessary, the game was won on the mound thanks to Porter Hunsley and Carter Templeton’s dual performance in which they held Brookings to just four hits and their lone run.
The Govs now sit at 10-4 and, again, hope to keep the streak alive when they head to Huron on Tuesday.
