An AI cyberattack on the Boys and Girls Club in Yankton resulted in a loss of $200,000.
According to the Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Plains, the cyberattackers acquired login information using tactics including AI-voice cloning, phone number spoofing and manipulating transaction details. The stolen money came from a reserve account used for things such as building maintenance and emergency needs of the Yankton Club. It doesn’t include any recent donations.
The incident remains under investigation.
