Miller takes top spot at regions golf; Gettysburg & Stanley County rises up leaderboards

It wasn’t ideal conditions for regions golf on Tuesday, however it was much better than Monday when the 11 schools involved were scheduled to compete. Ahead of state qualifiers in a little over a week, this was the last opportunity for Stanley County, Gettysburg, Miller, Lyman, Sully Buttes, Selby Area, Eureka, Mobridge-Pollock, Jones County, Highmore-Harrold and Herreid to post a couple scores and make the “cut” for the next qualifier.

Much like the week prior, Miller took both top spots on the boys and girls team leaderboards with the boys finishing at +35, three strokes ahead of Gettysburg while the girls comfortably finished at the top with a score of +44.

On the boys side, the top five spots on the leaderboard were only separated by 11-strokes as the competition was tight all day. Stanley County, Lyman and Sully Buttes were all separated by just five strokes as the Buffaloes took third with a +44, the Raiders two-strokes behind at +46 and the Chargers at +49. The rest of the leaderboard looked like this:

Stanley County’s Ian Schweitzer finished eighth with a +13, 85. Below, you will find the full boys individual leaderboard:

The girls team leaderboard, as mentioned above, was dominated by Miller who finished with a combined score of +44. Selby Area would finish in the second position with a score of +79 with Eureka at +99. Fourth and fifth held Mobridge-Pollock and Gettysburg with scores of +104 and +161.

Individually, Miller held three of the top four spots on the leaderboard with only one of which finishing above par in single-digits. Jayce Pugh finished ahead of everyone else with a +8, 79 with her teammates Kaihlyn Anderberg Sydney Asmus taking third and fourth with scores of +16 and +20. Sandwiched between was Taryn Hettick from Selby Area who finished in the two-spot at +11.

Selby Area had a good day as well, seeing Hettick finish second and Braylon Baumann finish fifth shooting a +26.

For Jones County, Tayah Anderson was the top finisher placing sixth shooting a 98.
