A newly graduated 4th grader at Jefferson Elementary School has her artistic talent displayed on a billboard that can be seen by people coming to Pierre on U.S. Highway 14.
Stella Nieman’s safety drawing shows a construction worker wearing a yellow vest and hard hat while holding a “SLOW” sign near an orange construction barrel.
Nieman shares how she came up with her design.
Wednesday morning (May 20, 2026), Stella was joined by representatives from Morris, Inc., the South Dakota Department of Transportation and the Associated General Contractors of South Dakota to take photos with her billboard and thank her for her safety message.
