Post 8 had an interesting set of games Tuesday night with PCBA Post 18 with each team going home with a win in very opposite ways.
In the first of the two games, Pierre would earn a mound battle thanks to an outstanding day on the bump from both starters. PCBA sent out Tyler Christensen who pitched a gem, but would take the loss after six innings of one-run baseball. Christensen only gave up five hits in his six innings of work but surrendered the only run of the ballgame in the 1-0 loss. Pierre’s Jackson Goodman would single in the sixth inning driving in what would prove to be the game winner for Post 8’s 12th win on the season.
For Pierre, Carter Templeton continued his great season of pitching going all seven innings for his team while also striking out seven in the win. Templeton only allowed just one hit as the two teams leaned heavily on defense and starting arms in this one.
Game two would flip the complete other direction as PCBA hung 11 on Pierre while keeping them scoreless on the other side. It was not a game that Post 18 sprinkled in runs all the way throughout, it was two huge innings that would be the difference. Post 18 scored five runs in the third inning and six in the fifth to even up the doubleheader and split the Tuesday night battle.
Post 8 improves to 12-14 on the season and will be back home Thursday night to take on Huron for two. Game one will get underway at 6:00 PM CT with game two following shortly after.
