The Walworth County Commission held a regular meeting on Wednesday, July 8th.
Landfill
Commissioner Duane Mohr informed the commission about upcoming CPR training for landfill employees and installing an AED machine. Mohr also asked for a moment of silence in memory of landfill employee Bryce Hepper.
Highway
Walworth County Highway Superintendent Tom Hannan told the commissioners core testing on the Sitka Road began on Tuesday (July 7th) but was slowed by the weather.
The commissioners approved the blading of city streets in Java using the County blade on off time.
Also at the meeting:
Walworth County Deputy Assessor Deb Kahl visited with the board about the half-cent sales tax issue, and the impact it would have on farm equipment purchases. She also said surrounding counties do not seem interested in implementing the sales tax.
Kahl also stated her reasoning for adding the half-cent tax.
The commissioners spent the rest of meeting discussing the budget, health insurance options, weed spraying, and employee raises.
The next Walworth County Commission meeting will be June 22nd.
