SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Rescuers are still searching for three people missing after a boat sank in San Francisco Bay near Alcatraz Island as part of memorial service. One person was pulled from the water but later died, and 16 others were rescued Tuesday afternoon (July 14, 2026). A dog on board also died. Authorities say the boat capsized in rough seas, with swells up to 5 feet. They say the boat was a 50-foot pleasure craft. Search teams are using thermal imaging and tide prediction to guide their efforts. The U.S. Coast Guard is leading the search with vessels and aircraft. The Coast Guard said it hadn’t yet determined how long crews will search before switching to a recovery effort.
