An 49 year old Omaha, Nebraska, man died Monday (July 27, 2026) in a two-vehicle crash eight miles south of Tyndall, South Dakota.
Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the driver of a 2020 Ford F-250 was traveling northbound on S.D. Highway 37 near the intersection of S.D. Highway 52. At the same time, the driver of a 2025 Honda Pilot stopped in the westbound lane on S.D. Highway 52 before proceeding into the intersection. The Honda was struck by the Ford. All three people were taken to a Tyndall hospital. The driver of the Honda died from his injuries. His passenger was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital via Life Flight with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.
