Highmore Area Foundation is grateful to announce a $10,000 gift from Pierre-Fort Pierre Rotary Club to support the Highmore Area Foundation Recovery Efforts Fund.
On Monday, June 29, 2026, the Highmore community was struck by a devastating storm with winds exceeding 130 miles per hour, leaving widespread damage across the area. In response, the Highmore Area Foundation established the Recovery Efforts Fund to receive and direct charitable dollars toward local recovery.
“The Highmore Area Foundation was humbled with an extremely generous gift from the Pierre-Fort Pierre Rotary Club. What wonderful neighbors we have to the west! Thank you doesn’t begin to cover our appreciation,” said Paula Haiwick, Highmore Area Foundation Chair.
Donations to the fund are administered and receipted through Highmore Area Foundation’s partner, South Dakota Community Foundation. The Highmore Area Foundation council guides all distribution decisions, directing funds to local nonprofits doing the hands-on work of recovery.
The Recovery Efforts Fund has distributed grant applications to eligible organizations, with funds to be awarded in August.
Community members and organizations interested in contributing to the Recovery Efforts Fund are encouraged to reach out or give online: https://www.
