The Pierre City Commission has approved extending their agreement with Missouri River Energy Services.
City Administrator Kristi Honeywell says the town gets roughly 40% of its electricity from MRES.
Honeywell says through their agreement, MRES provides Pierre with more than simply electric power.
Honeywell says this update extends the town’s agreement for another 40 years.
Pierre’s extended agreement with Missouri River Energy Services was approved unanimously (Aug. 4, 2026).
