In the midst of a road-heavy finish to the regular season, the Governors went on the road to Tea to take on the Titans for a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Governor girls hoping to protect an undefeated record and the boys looking to bounce back with a win.
The girls would win rather comfortably by a final score of 3-1. Ivy Flottmeyer got the scoring started with a goal off a corner kick, a spot she has been deadly from throughout 2026. The second score came off the foot of Zoey Bauer late in the first half as time was winding down to make it 2-0.
In the second half, Lexi Hillmer attacked and made it 3-0 as the girls moved to 9-0-0 with the win. The lone goal for Tea came with under seven minutes left.
In the boys game, the Govs fell behind 1-0 in the first half and then quickly 2-0 in the second half. But one thing Sean Blanchette has always required his team to do is play until the final whistle, and in doing so, it resulted in a badly needed victory.
Jacoby LaRoche got the Govs on the board first finishing a free kick to make the score 2-1. The Govs continued the rally and found the equalizer when Levi Hight finished a pass from LaRoche to make it 2-2. The game winner came off a LaRoche corner kick that was scored by Everett Norton which sent the team into a frenzy. Though it was only the Governors second win of the year, victories like that can propel a team into a strong finish of the regular season, and we hop that’s the juice the Govs needed to make a strong push throughout the final four games of the year.
The Govs will go on the road to Yankton Friday night for another doubleheader, game one beginning at 5:00 PM CT and game two beginning at 7:00.
