A 24 year old woman from Pierre faces several charges after leaving the scene of an accident Friday afternoon (Feb. 13 4:30pm).
Information from the Pierre Police Department says officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of North Star Avenue for a possible traffic accident involving a light pole. An officer noticed a light pole had been knocked to the ground and followed the tracks of the vehicle, which was located in the area.
While speaking with the driver who was identified as McKenna Middletent, officers observed an odor of an alcoholic beverage. During the investigation, Middletent became belligerent and started throwing items in the patrol vehicle out onto the yard of the residence. She also became combative, resisted officers attempts to take her into custody and threatened the arresting officer with physical harm.
Middletent was arrested for Driving Without Valid License or Permit, DUI 1st, Failure to Report and Accident, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Simple Assault against Law Enforcement and Threatening Law Enforcement. She was taken to the Hughes County Jail.
