Twelve young women from around the state–including teens from Hitchcock and Timber Lake in the central part of the state– will compete for the title of Miss South Dakota’s Outstanding Teen 2021 on Saturday, June 5 at 1:00 p.m. The teen competition will be held at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center, on the South Dakota State University campus in Brookings. The new Miss South Dakota’s Outstanding Teen will take home at least $2,000 in scholarships, with a total of $10,100 in scholarship funds available to candidates.
The new titleholder will compete at the 2021 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Competition which will be held in Orlando, Florida July 27-30, 2021. The Teen Pageant is open to young women ages 13-17.
The pageant will feature Payton Steffenson of Yankton, the current Miss South Dakota’s Outstanding Teen. Payton represented South Dakota at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Competition in 2019. No competition was held in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
