UPDATE OCTOBER 21, 2021:
A minimum-security inmate who was placed on escape status from a Rapid City facility is back in custody.
Inmate Timothy Mitchell was arrested yesterday (Oct. 20, 2021). He is currently housed in the Meade County jail.
Mitchell is currently serving two sentences for possession of a controlled substance from Butte County
Mitchell failed to return to the Rapid City Community Work Center at the appointed time following a shift at his work release job Oct. 6.
Failure to return from assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

A minimum-security inmate has been placed on escape status.
Inmate Timothy Mitchell failed to return to the Rapid City Community Work Center at the appointed time following a shift at his work release job Oct. 6, 2021.
Mitchell, age 38, is a Native American male. He is 5-feet-8 inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
Mitchell is currently serving two sentences for possession of a controlled substance from Butte County.
