Battlers Hold Off Faulkton Area, Advance To 9B Championship

FAULKTON – A year after Potter County suffered through a COVID-19-induced non-playoff season, the Battlers are a win away from a championship.

Grant Luikens threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third Friday as Potter County avenged a season-opening loss by defeating Faulkton Area Friday 22-12 in a 9B semifinal.

The Battlers (9-2) had lost to the Trojans 36-18 in the season opener.

Potter County will play Dell Rapids St. Mary Thursday in the 9B championship game at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, going for a second championship. The Battlers were 9A champions in 2013.
