The Hughes County Commission has declared a disaster because of a massive winter storm and extremely high winds that came through last month. The Stanley County Commission will discuss the issue at their meeting this (Tues.) evening.
Hughes and Stanley County emergency management director Rob Fines says the storm dropped nearly a foot of wet, heavy snow, followed by mild temperatures that caused rapid melting.
Fines says much of the snow from that storm has melted and counties and townships have begun to repair damaged roads.
